Community Activation Overlapping Stamp Rally

地域活性重ね捺しスタンプラリー

Local revitalization measures to encourage visitors to tour the city and discover its hidden charms through the “stamp rally”.

In March 2025, we planned and held the “Overlapping Stamp Rally – Gururi Kumamoto Sanpo” in Kumamoto City with the aim of creating a lively community and expanding the fun of touring the city.

This event started with the question, “What can we do to attract more people to the shopping streets that have been familiar to the locals for a long time? This was the starting point of the event.

Among various ideas, we decided to adopt an analog stamp rally as “a system that anyone can enjoy and easily understand.

Report

With cherry blossoms in full bloom from the first day of the event, the warm spring weather attracted a wide range of participants, including families, tourists, and local residents.

A total of over 6,000 people participated in the event! Bringing activity to the local area
A total of more than 6,000 visitors participated in the week-long stamp rally. With a map in hand, participants went around the three local shopping streets to collect stamps, and at the end of the rally, they were able to exchange their stamps for prizes. Many participants commented that it was refreshing to walk in an area they do not usually visit and that it gave them an opportunity to talk with shopkeepers, thus creating contact with the local community.

The course was designed for everyone to enjoy.
There are a total of five stamp locations. The “stamp rally” is characterized by the fact that the stamp design is not completed until all the spots have been visited, and the desire to complete the rally makes visitors go on to the next spot. The course was designed to be approximately 2 km in length so that even the elderly and children could visit the spots without too much burden, and visitors enjoyed it in different ways, some completing the course in a single day and others visiting spots little by little during the course of the rally.

Participants who completed the stamps received a souvenir “Dorayaki” or “Local Sake Tasting” from a local store. Participants were also pleased to be able to enjoy local specialties.

We want to create a flow of people and convey the charm of the city.
Stamp rallies, which turn walking into fun, may be one of the most effective ways to revitalize local communities in the future.
