A house builder headquartered in Chiba Prefecture requested a TV commercial, and we proposed the production of a branded movie in parallel with the TV commercial, which was readily accepted and this project was launched. After repeated interviews with the client, we produced a branded movie on the theme of tile houses, as the client wanted to respect “house building with tiles as the main feature. Even though it was a branded movie, the production staff employed movie staff, and the leading role was played by the famous actor Eiji Okuda. The branded movie was positioned as a short film. The TV commercial was designed to attract viewers to the film and to promote the product, and was designed to first gain recognition by inviting viewers to visit the Crevalley Home website. We produced the music for the film and also used it as a commercial song.

This project is not about a specific organization or company, but a branded movie that aims to appeal not only to the local community but also to the Japanese brand. The project began when our producer visited Unnan City in Shimane Prefecture and came into contact with the ancient iron-making tradition of “tatara-tekketsu” (iron making). The producer believed that the environmentally conscious approach to iron production in tatara iron making could provide a major clue to solving environmental problems.
After conducting a series of interviews with local people, we decided to create a branded movie respecting “iron making. Even though this film is also a branded movie, the production staff employed film staff. A foreign actor was used for the lead role, and famous bi-player Susumu Terashima was cast as the iron-making craftsman. This brand new movie was also positioned as a short film. By creating a story depicting “tatara iron making” as seen from a foreigner’s perspective and music in English, we created a structure that could be empathized with by people overseas. The music produced for this film was awarded the “Best Sound Design” prize at the London International Film Festival.
