Strategists will change the world
What kind of future awaits if many excellent strategists emerge?
Strategists may help companies prosper, and companies may then use those funds to do work that benefits society. When companies generate profits, the nation also benefits. Taxes build infrastructure, and medical and education systems are enhanced.
When stakeholders who invest in companies earn returns, their families benefit too. Those returns are spent not only on living expenses but also on medical care, education and hobbies, which in turn become companies' sales. This may be overly simple, but I believe that by supporting companies, strategists can indirectly change the world.
In a rapidly changing global economy, predicting the future is very important. In that sense too, we have entered an era in which the quality of strategists is being tested. This is because we need to predict how the market environment will change and which industries will drive Japan forward, and formulate strategies quickly.
Strategists must look at the company, the region, the country and even the world, and think about what the companies they are responsible for should do and what strategic proposals they should make.
What I am focusing on is “CSV: Creating Shared Value.” CSV means “the creation of shared value”: when companies proactively tackle social issues and create value for society, economic value is created along with it. Broadening our view beyond corporate performance to “people,” “the economy” and “society” beyond that, what kind of strategies and preparations are needed from a truly “CSV” perspective? The answer is not simple, but through daily research activities I continue to hone my skills so that I can return the results to companies in the form of proposals.
Supporting companies with optimal strategies and developing many excellent strategists: this is my mission, and I believe it is my greatest contribution to society.
