A human drama inspired by tatara ironmaking, depicting the nature of Shimane and the love between a father and son.
The film “Tatara” is a human drama inspired by tatara ironmaking (an ironmaking method that developed in Japan from ancient times through the early modern period), depicting the nature of Shimane and the love between a father and son. Aiming to “promote traditional culture” and “create an opportunity to think about the SDGs,” production was announced on March 30, 2022.
The director is Kunio Nozawa, winner of the Best Foreign Language Short Film award at the 2017 Nice International Film Festival and the Grand Prix at the 2021 INDIE SHORT FEST. As the film also takes up the SDGs as a theme, we aim not only to enter it in overseas film festivals but also to screen it at environmental organizations and international bodies around the world.
